Paralegal Management
This program prepares the student to assist indigenous people in tribal court and other political arenas as an advocate. This is not a legal program and students do not earn a law degree. The Paralegal Management Program provides paralegals to perform a variety of tasks, such as creating resource files and scheduling appointments. This also includes essential legal knowledge and practical skills for careers in law firms, corporations, and government agencies. Topics included legal research, writing, case management, litigation procedures, and ethics. Graduates can pursue careers in law firms, corporations, or government agencies. This program provides a strong foundation in legal principles and practical application. Flexible learning options are available. Graduates may pursue paralegal roles or professional certification, such as the NALA Certified Paralegal (CP) exam.
Program Outcomes
Students will demonstrate legal knowledge with proficiency by conducting research and providing case studies.
Students will develop practical legal skills, providing a strong foundation in legal principles and applications.
Students will demonstrate ethical guidelines and professional responsibilities
Students will demonstrate knowledge of Indigenous people’s rights and manners relating to their local state, tribal, and federal agencies.
Students will be knowledgeable of their rights to participate in decision making processes in matters which would affect their rights.
Students will demonstrate their right to develop and maintain their tribal structures and judicial systems or customs.
