Transfer Information
Transfer Information – 34 CFR 668.43
The Sisseton Wahpeton College (SWC) is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Credits are transferable to colleges and universities throughout the United States. The transfer of credits is a determination made by the institution receiving a student’s transcript. Students who have identified a college or university to which they wish to transfer, should review that institution’s requirements with their advisors. Colleges and universities vary in their policies regarding acceptance of transfer credits. While SWC does not currently have any formal program-to-program articulation agreements with other institution, the College does course-to-course equivalency agreements with the state colleges and universities in South Dakota.
SWC accepts credits from regionally accredited institutions when a course-to-course equivalency can be established. An evaluation of transfer credits will be done after the Application for Admission has been filed and all required official transcripts have been received by the Registrar’s office. Credit from institutions that are regionally accredited is evaluated for SWC equivalencies first, and then evaluated for elective credit. Transfer coursework will be evaluated by the program advisors, faculty, and the Registrar, including reviewing copies of course syllabi. Credit will be granted only for courses in which a grade of “C” or better has been earned. Applicability of transfer courses will be determined by the Registrar.
NOTE: All transcripts received from other institutions that have been presented for admission or evaluation become a part of each student’s permanent academic file of the college and cannot be released, duplicated, returned or forwarded to another institution.
